Things to Do in Dubrovnik in One Day

To be sure you make the most of your time and see all the landmarks you want to see while taking the best photos, it is important that you organise your trip prior to the arrival. Since the temperatures tend to be high in late spring and summer, be sure you put on sunscreen, a hat on your head and drink a lot of water.

Take an E-Tuk-Tuk Tour: “Dubrovnik on the Palm of Your Hand”

Start your day with the most stunning panoramic view of Dubrovnik on the mountain of Srđ. There are different ways you can get to the mountain: taking the cable car, taking the bus tour or hiking. You can also take an e-tuk-tuk tour, which includes a visit to the mountain of Srđ.

The e-tuk-tuk tour with a pick up at your hotel is ideal because you don’t have to waste your time on additional bus or taxi rides. The first stop is in front of the Franjo Tuđman Bridge, which connects the two sides of the bay and from which there is an amazing view of the Adriatic and the Port of Dubrovnik. The tour guide, who is also your driver, will explain to you the most interesting facts about the history of the city and the building of the bridge. The ride which takes you to the Srđ mountain is enjoyable and you will have one photo stop before reaching the top with an enormous cross, the Homeland War Museum and a panoramic restaurant. We have been told at the restaurant that a reservation should be made several months in advance.

The UNESCO-listed Old Town of Dubrovnik is full of interesting landmarks, including the main street Stradun, Dubrovnik’s Cathedral, Onofrio’s Fountains, the Sponza Palace and many more. We recommend you to visit the Friars Minor Pharmacy, one of the oldest in Europe, which is also free with a DU daily pass. It is situated in the Franciscan monastery. Some of you might be interested in visiting the Love Stories Museum, which is a home to stories and items of emotional value from all around the world. There is a 20% discount on the ticket with a DU daily pass as well.

Have a Lunch Close to the Cathedral of Dubrovnik

There are lots of restaurants in Dubrovnik and there is plenty of choice if you would like to taste the local cuisine or the international one. If you want to have lunch in the Old City, in a peaceful atmosphere with a nice view and a very friendly staff, we recommend the Amoret restaurant near the Cathedral.

Spend Some Time at the Beach

With only one day in Dubrovnik, balancing sightseeing and relaxation can be tricky. If you want to relax a bit, there is a perfect beach near the City Walls, which is called Banje beach. It gets quite busy with locals and tourists, but it is an ideal spot to enjoy the sight of the historic walls and all the beauty of Dubrovnik.
