Family Fun With Nature at Its Core
The town of Stari Grad on Hvar island has always been a safe haven for travellers, an inspiration to artists from all walks of life, and a place where nature and people come together in perfect harmony. Continuing this legacy is the brand new Valamar Amicor Green Resort, the first family resort on Croatia’s Adriatic coast built and operated in an entirely sustainable fashion. Green-minded families, here’s the perfect spot to enjoy your dream holidays.
Nestled in the dreamy cove of Stari Grad, Valamar Amicor Green Resort places guests a stroll away from the historic centre. This forested patch of land is dotted with eco villas and family suites, each decked out with a private terrace for soaking up the Mediterranean ambiance. Cosy and serene, their interiors mimic the colours and the vibe of the island’s scenery. Natural and recycled materials sourced locally feature highly in the villas and suites; local artists have been invited to add fun touches.
Envisioned as a hideaway where families can craft their quality time around common and individual interests, Valamar Amicor Green Resort offers fun at every corner. At nearby pine-shaded natural beaches, the little ones can splash away in shallow waters while the parents get their daily swim in. Water adventures abound at the Aquamar Premium Water Park. Everyone can find their fun here, from babies to grandparents; there are three heated pools that cater to every depth preference, plus all variety of slides, poolside loungers and other attractions across 400 square metres of space.
You can get competitive in V Sport Park, with multifunctional and tennis courts; and keep your daily exercise routines with Stay Fit sports programmes designed for all ages. Relaxing is the name of the game at the Sun & Spa wellness, where treatments provide deep relaxation and rejuvenation.
From the small organic garden with spices, herbs, fruits and vegetables, to playful kids’ areas, every corner of the resort is designed to reveal something new and stimulate the imagination of our youngest guests. At the Maro Club, the little ones can enjoy smart play and soft play, multimedia and old-school board games. They can also participate in workshops that teach them to take care of the planet, such as recycling, separating waste or growing plants.
At Oliva restaurant, those lessons come together into a delicious feast. All Mediterranean dishes served here are made of fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients, largely grown either on premises or elsewhere on the island. The mix of buffet and à la carte dining caters to all palates and preferences, removing the hassle that comes with negotiating meals. Guests can sample local olive oils and wines, the hallmark of Hvar’s gastronomy, and taste the honey from our own apiary. Valamar Amicor is a sanctuary for guests – and friendly bees, too.
Green beyond the trees
Constructed on previously developed land, the property abounds with indigenous trees and plants, from cypresses and lush pines to fragrant lavender, rosemary and other Mediterranean shrubs that have been carefully preserved during the construction process. New species are added continually, to nurture biodiversity and add divine scents that infuse each stroll around the resort. From pathways and benches to insect hotels and bird houses, everything you see is made of recycled materials.
The highest-quality windows and doors reduce energy loss, while smart home technologies in all the villas help optimize energy consumption through monitoring of air quality, water and energy consumption, as well as CO2 footprint. LED lighting is applied wherever possible, and the lights turn off automatically. All appliances in the accommodation units are switched off until guests arrive. Single-use plastics have been completely eliminated, while the use of paper has been minimised through use of digital processes.
Your stay at Amicor comes with the added plus of minimised carbon footprint. Built-in throughout the resort, green technologies help achieve the nZEB (nearly zero energy building) standard. The heating of water comes from renewable sources, such as the solar panels on the roofs of villas.
